Rainy day cottage wedding in Trout Lake

As an adventure wedding photographer in Ontario, I’ve learned to embrace the unexpected. Even with the best planning and preparation, things can take an unpredictable turn—and that’s what makes the job so exciting. I thrive in those moments, adapting quickly and thinking on my feet to capture the perfect shot. One of the most unforgettable experiences was at Kindrie & Nick's cottage wedding on Trout Lake. As the ceremony neared, a torrential downpour suddenly hit—like nothing we’d ever seen before. The wind howled, sending sheets of rain across the water, and the temperature dropped. Despite the chaos, I was in awe of the couple’s calm and resilience. Instead of panicking or losing hope, they embraced the situation, poured some drinks, shared a few laughs and tears, and patiently waited for the storm to pass.

The lush green trees and dramatic weather made for some truly stunning photos. When the rain was pouring down, I asked Kindrie to step near a window in the cabin, and the moody lighting created a look I absolutely loved. Later, when it was time for their couple portraits, I couldn't help but think: why not go into the water? Since they were already soaked, I suggested it, and they were all in. The result was a magical, twilight-like atmosphere. Moments like these, where I’m willing to stand in the rain myself to capture something beautiful, are what make this job so special. It’s about living in the moment with my couples and creating something unforgettable together.
